The summer transfer window thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

I keep reading that JWP is going to be captain next season which is strange as it would mean he is in the starting 11.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Scott I read one of his stipulations coming here is that signings are not left to the end of the window due to the massive overhaul and that he and Tim have already been in contact with players and clubs to get them done early. That’s not to say some won’t come in late but the majority are done early and he has already identified who they are. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 3/4 signings in the first couple of weeks. Probably wants them done early due to euros but doesn’t that kick off the same time the window opens?

Sir Alf,

Agree.
I expect that some of our best signings this summer will be names that we've either never heard of or not thought about before.

Saw a headline this morning, I think it was a West Ham site but I can't remember where it was, that stated "West Ham assembling amazing team under Lopetegui". Which was odd because we haven't made any signings yet.

Amusing reading all the rumours on web sites but these self appointed ITKs and “experts” are clueless like us on who we are moving for or might be negotiating with. They use a scattergun which is usually based on history of players we have looked at or been linked with in the past or previously played for Loprtegui or were coached by him.

Logical in some ways but suspect most names suggested are wide of the mark.

I just hope Steidten and team along with Loppy get younger, pacy players in the main who have good technique. They wont be established if we are to get them or would already have been snapped up by the super rich teams across Europe.

In short, a few more ( in positions we need to upgrade ). like Kudus please :-)

Too demanding and unrealistic expections ? Who me?

Yeah, hopefully Areola won't miss too many, but he's not had any serious or long term injuries before, so I don't think there's anything to be concerned about. Also, I imagine Moyes figured that his No 2 was almost equal to Areola so didn't rush him back. Certainly 2 of the 7 league games he missed this season he was on the bench for and could have played.

I expect Anang will be 3rd choice unless maybe Trott comes back. Anang at least played a role this season in helping Kudus get settled (they're both from Accra) and used to drive him to and from training, etc.

Yeah, as I said, not injury prone...lol! Must be honest I didn't realise his attendance record at Fulham was quite so strong, but this is the first season for us as first choice so the first in which he's been called upon to play week in week out (and the first at 30+) and he's missed almost 20% of the league games.

Obviously Fab is staying, but who's third choice, Anang?

Sorry it wasn’t aimed at you.

I was laughing at the level of nonsense these YouTubers come out with.

I’m with you boots. But he has a microphone and a platform. And it’s silly season. It’s going to be a long few months. And ultimately we are going to be disappointed. But seeing some of natives run around with their pants on fire. Does have it moments.

Bikarfyl Watywiszphor is a name that might tempt me to buy a replica shirt. On a per letter basis, it is value for money.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
West Ham are tracking Croatian international Bikarfyl Watywiszphor, a fee of around £35m for the striker could seal the deal. The 23 year old has had 32 goal contributions from 40 games this season.

West Ham and Brighton ‘trying to put together’ offer after making contact – Player set for summer exit

By Naveen Ullal

Two months ago, Calciomercato stated West Ham United could be an option for Udinese’s Lazar Samardžić in the summer window. The Hammers continue to be named as a suitor, along with Brighton & Hove Albion, who already looked at him in the winter market.

That’s at least what Mondo Udinese are reporting about the 26-year-old, who is set to leave the Serie A side after this season.

West Ham, Brighton, Napoli and Juventus have all shown interest in the midfielder, and the two Italian clubs have been following him for a while.

It’s further explained that these four teams have requested information about the player.

With regards to the Premier League duo, Mondo Udinese state West Ham and Brighton are ‘trying to put together the right offer’ to secure the Serbia international’s services.

Samardžić has scored five goals and registered two assists from 32 league games this season, and the report says his recent displays have helped Udinese to get out of the relegation zone They are currently 16th, a point behind 18th placed Empoli.

Taking this into account, the player’s current valuation now needs to be determined, and the outlet makes no mention of any figures, either for his asking price or the fee West Ham and Brighton could offer.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Yea, this Cresswell story won't go away, is it just because he's home grown that we're happy for him to stay for another year, or because they'd rather not spend money on back up LB? Apparently he wants to go and think he can 2 years somewhere, preferably up north. At least Oggy is defo leaving.

The Euro's also comes into the mix in regards to maybe slowing things down.

Until we get a manager through the door and the window opens up. It’s all bollock’s.! If Steidten been here a year. And can’t get an upgrade on Cresswell (Even at bargain basement prices.) Then what’s the point of him being here.?

Re: The summer transfer window thread
The Athletic

Aaron Cresswell (contract expires 2024)

Cresswell’s soon-to-expire deal does not include a one-year option. He has been at West Ham for 10 years, having joined from Ipswich Town in 2014, and West Ham are hopeful the 34-year-old left-back will stay for another season.
